European Rural Parliament comes to Somerset - 6th September

The one day event will consider the research project ‘Sustaining rural services and infrastructure’ that ACRE has been leading on behalf of the Rural European Parliament. The research aims to understand how rural services and infrastructure can be sustained by communal action and how local people can get involved in shaping policy and taking action. Read more here

Music Workshop 24th September St Margaret's Northam, EX39 1JL   

(Large carpark located behind the Church: signed from Northam Square)

There is an RSCM music workshop at 2 pm on September 24th, followed by a service of Evensong at 5 pm at St Margaret’s church Northam. This event is sponsored by Exeter Diocese and will be led by Andrew Maries (Chair RSCM Devon) with Chris Beechey (Director of Music at St Margaret’s and Head of Performance at Kingsley School, Bideford). The service is open to everyone, but if you want to take part in the workshops beforehand, you need to fill in a form and return by 15th September if possible - click here. It could be very exciting for those who like to sing or play an instrument.

Creationtide 1 September to 4 October

‘Inspiring Earth’ will be a daily email resource from EcoChurch SouthWest, which is a partnership of Anglican dioceses in the region. ‘Inspiring Earth’, participants will be sent a message every day with a biblical passage, prayer or reflection, questions and local stories of “Creation Care”.  These will include short videos and suggestions for reducing our human impact on the wider world. Fundraisers' Forum Update  - From NDVS - Following the launch of this well received forum, for people engaged in fundraising in Northern Devon, we will be holding the next meeting on Tuesday 26th September, from 2 - 4 pm at Brinsworthy Environmental Centre, thanks to Kate Johnston at NDC.  Parking is very limited, so car sharing will be neccessary. North Devon Volunteer Co-ordinators’ Forum.  The Volunteer Co-ordinators’ Forum is held quarterly for anyone who manages volunteers. Contact for more information.  

The next Forum will take place on 7th November 2017 10am - 1pm, The Voice Radio Station, Belle Meadow Court, Albert Lane, Barnstaple, North Devon, EX32 8RJ. The theme will be an overview on Recruitment, with an opportunity for networking.

The theme for our forum in February with be General Data Protection Regulation.  The session will be delivered by Get up to Speed and will inform you of changes to Data Protection that take effect in May 2018.The forum will take place 6th February 2018, 10am - 1pm, The Voice Radio Station, Belle Meadow Court, Albert Lane, Barnstaple, North Devon, EX32 8RJ

Day Conference on Resource Churches in Rural Areas

11am – 4pm Tuesday 28 November 2017 at the Church Army, Wilson Carlile Centre, Sheffield.

The National Rural Officer with the Fresh Expressions Rural Hub are organising a day for those already working or interested in resource churches in rural areas. There will be a wide range of speakers including practitioners, with plenty of opportunity for discussion and sharing expertise and ideas. Cost £45. Full booking details and programme to follow.
