Growing the Rural Church

For Anglican Churches - "Growing the Rural Church" is a new project launched by the Church of England in Devon in February 2017. Bishop Sarah Mulally says “Church buildings are at the heart of our rural communities and they can be both a blessing and a burden. The Growing the Rural Church project works alongside local communities to help them find sustainable ways in which our rural church buildings can enable the church to grow in prayer, make new disciples and serve the people of Devon with joy.” Amongst other support, the project can offer help with community engagement and advice and guidance on changes to the use and fabric of church buildings.

Growing the Rural Church has recently developed additional webpages. New to the site are videos and case studies showcasing the work of GtRC so far. There is also guidance and resources on working with your local community to care for your historic church and meet community needs at the same time. More content will be added as learning from the project develops.

The Project Manager is Marian Carson and more information and Marian's contact details can be found via the Growing the Rural Church Website here
